PVC
PVC cling film is used for covering & wrapping foods like meats and sandwiches.
PVC cling film, also known as plastic wrap or cling wrap, is a thin plastic film commonly made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is frequently used to wrap food items to keep them fresh and avoid spoilage. PVC cling film is regularly favoured over other types of plastic films due to its ability to cling securely to surfaces, as well as its transparency and resistance to moisture and air.
It is important to note that PVC cling film isn't microwavable, as it can release harmful chemicals as well as a fire hazard. It is unsuitable for oven use or on a hot stovetop. When using PVC cling film, it is recommended to use it in a way that lessens contact with food, such as adding aluminium foil or parchment paper to separate the food and cling film. This is important in a takeaway setting where food is being delivered or when storing food in a fridge or freezer for later use.
PVC
There have been concerns about the use of PVC cling film due to its possibility to emit harmful chemicals, such as phthalates, into the food it is in contact with. Consequently, some people opt to use other types of cling film made from different materials, such as polyethene or biodegradable materials.
PVC Cling Film is not widely recyclable and should be placed in a general waste bin.
If left, this product is 100% biodegradable and will break down over time.
